2. What Personal Data We Process
- Merchant Profile Data: Shop/Business name, category, phone number, WhatsApp contact number, town ID, and physical address/geo-coordinates provided voluntarily for public directory discovery.
- Civic Reporting Data: Streetlight, drainage, or hazard photographs and descriptions. Reports can be submitted with "Anonymous Citizen" mode to protect citizen identity.
- Private Customer Khata: Merchant-customer transaction ledgers are strictly isolated, confidential, and encrypted. Khata records are NEVER accessible to public visitors.
3. Lawful Basis & Explicit Consent
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, data is processed solely on the basis of freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous consent of the Data Principal for the purpose of hyperlocal business discovery and town civic connectivity.
4. Rights of the Data Principal (Citizens & Merchants)
Under the DPDP Act 2023, you have the statutory right to:

SmartTown stores town card indexes locally in client browser IndexedDB so citizens can browse contacts even during 2G/3G connectivity drops. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising pixels.
